This shorter ride was mainly planned to cut in two the long drive to Buon Ma Thuot. We had taken the inland route on the way to Tuy Hoa, and took the coastal route between Tuy Hoa and Dai Lanh. This time we saw the coastal part of the Ca Pass, which I found even more beautiful than the mountainous part. We wanted to make a stop at the lighthouse on the Dai Lanh coastal promontory, but again it was turned into a tourist area where loads of busses stopped, so we skipped it. We had seen the promontory and the lighthouse from afar from the road and that was enough for us.

We had booked a room on Doc Let beach, a beautiful stretch of pristine white sand beach. The resort we are staying at, Paradise Resort, is a small scale owned by a Croatian – Vietnamese couple. The resort attracts a lot of Russian tourists because of its proximity to Nha Trang where many Russians live. The resort is all inclusive, so when we arrived just before noon we could choose between Western or Vietnamese food and of course we chose for the latter. We were really spoiled with the food! Grilled fish, shrimp, rice, soup, morning glory and nem nuong cuon, a local specialty, where you roll grilled pork sausages and crispy egg roll skins with lettuce, herbs and green mango into rice paper until you get a kind of fresh spring roll which you dip into a savory orange sauce.

Dinner was again a wonderful choice of Vietnamese dishes, grilled fish, squid with vegetables, bbq chicken, oysters, rice, soup…

The resort had started with just one bungalow for rent and a one table restaurant back in 2002. It had grown into this small scale resort that still wants to make its guests feel at home. The resort does at first sight not look as impressive as most other resorts do, and the rooms are quite soberly decorated but holds all that is necessary. The bungalows are surrounded by greenery and flowers and the rooms have secluded patios with relaxing sunbeds. And most of all, the resort has a superb location on a beautiful beach and the staff, who are really good at their job, are obviously happy working here and create a nice vibe. This resort does not want to impress with its looks but charms nonetheless. Pity we only stay here one night. This place is a great alternative for the less charming Tuy Hoa if you are looking for a beach holiday.
